Soups Galore!

We have hosted a soup contest at our Fall Barrel Tasting Weekend event for years. Each year event attendees take on the great responsibility of tasting and voting on their favorite soups. If you didn’t get a chance to submit or sip this year, we hope you remember to join us next year at our Fall Barrel Tasting Weekend! This year we made soup contest history! Not only did we have a record number of folks submitting soups for judging, but we had our first ever tie! Read below to learn a little more about our newest soup savants.

FRIDAY

Julia Figgins
Buffalo Chicken Chili
Julia Figgins created a crowd pleasing Buffalo Chicken Chili with all the fixins’. The fan favorite was to pair her spicy chili with our 2020 Malbec, because the fruity flavors in our wine played nice with the spice in the chili.Unfortunately, we aren’t able to share a recipe for this soup because Julia “shoots from the hip” and makes it up as she goes.
Sarah Heasley
Polska Kielbasa Soup

Sarah Heasley created a spicy Polska Kielbasa Soup that really got our taste buds buzzing! If you make this delicious dish, we recommend pairing it with the 2020 Henry’s Red, because the smoky flavors in the wine brought out the smoky flavors in the soup.

SATURDAY

Cherie Holsclaw
Seafood Chowder

Cherie created a Seafood Chowder that simply blew away the competition!
This creamy dish of comfort paired nicely with the 2022 Albariño, the crisp citrus of the wine is a good juxtaposition to the creamy richness of the chowder.  Mmm mmm good!Cherie is also an intuitive chef and does not cook from a recipe. But she did share a few notes about how she creates her soup. Seafood Chowder

We want to take a moment to say a great big thank you to all the contestants who participated in our soup contest. THANK YOU!

We have great Winners! Hey Moms – We think you totally rock! And so do your kids (even if they don’t say it often enough).

We think all mom’s deserve to treat themselves every so often. We have a plan to help you with that while helping your kiddos do something special for you this Mother’s Day.

Kids – draw a picture of why you love your mom or why you think she deserves a treat. Have a grown up help submit your drawing on our Facebook or Instagram page by 5pm on May 8, 2020. Our top 3 favorites will earn their awesome mom a special goodies bag valued at $25 dollars!
We had so many fabulous entries into our Mother’s Day Drawing contest; so many in fact, we had to add an additional winner. We have four happy moms that are receiving our goodies bag! We will be notifying all four moms via email as to how they can pick up their goodies bags in our tasting room.
Congratulations: Meagan Lepire, Lindsey McConnell-Soong, Janelle Phelps, and Katie Burright.  So many talented young artists!

WE HAVE OUR WINNERS!

While you are stuck at home and potentially doing a bit of spring cleaning why not play a little game with us? Every spring Sue (Mike & Bev’s mom) and Eileen (Patrick’s mom) would work together to concoct elaborate scavenger hunts for their kids. These scavenger hunts would encompass their houses, outbuildings, orchards, vineyards and would take all day long to complete. (Not a bad way to keep the kids from getting underfoot if you ask us.)

The Williamson family is challenging you to search your home and property for 15 wine related items*. Take a picture of these items and submit them to us via email, Facebook or Instagram. The first person to submit all 15 items by April 30th wins a gift basket valued at $50! But there are still more chances to win, if you find and submit 5 or more items by April 30th your name will be entered to win a coupon for 50% off of one item.
